A group of ten miniature dress medals attributed to Lieutenant-Colonel G. H. Batty

The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, M.B.E. (Military) Member’s 1st type badge, silver; 1914 Star, with clasp; British War and Victory Medals, M.I.D. oak leaf; Jubilee 1935; Coronation 1937; Russia, Order of St. Stanislaus, with swords, silver-gilt and enamel, swords bent; Belgium, Order of the Crown, silver and enamel, obverse centre missing; France, Medal of Honour, with swords, gilt; Medaille Militaire, silver-gilt and enamel, some enamel damage to reverse, mounted as worn, good very fine except where stated (10) £120-160

During the Great War Batty served as a Lieutenant and Quartermaster in the Army. Served in France/Flanders, August 1914-December 1915 and was mentioned in despatches (London Gazette 22 June 1915 and 1 January 1916). Was awarded the Belgian Order of the Crown, 5th Class; the French Medaille Militaire in recognition of gallantry; the French Medal of Honour, silver-gilt with swords and the Russian Order of St. Stanislaus, 3rd Class. Promoted to Captain in September 1924; Major in September 1931 and Lieutenant-Colonel in July 1935.
