Instituted in 1981; the highest award to members of the Singapore Armed Forces for exceptional distinguished service or extraordinary merit. With copied relevant Republic of Singapore Government Gazette extracts and two investiture booklets re the award of the decoration to Admiral Christopher Alexander Barrie, Chief of Defence Force Australian Defence Force, 28 August 2000, and to Admiral Widodo As, Commander-in-Chief of the National Defence Forces of the Republic of Indonesia, 6 April 2001.
