William Robert Cayley, who was born in Liverpool in 1877, was serving as Third Officer aboard the S.S. Cymric at the time of winning his Liverpool Shipwreck and Humane Society Medal, in silver, on 31 July 1915, on which date he was involved in the rescue of the crew of the schooner Gypsum Queen, off Newfoundland, in a moderate gale and rough sea; sold with copied ship log entries.
