David Rennie Kennedy, who was born at Arrochar in June 1918 and entered the Merchant Navy in September 1947, was serving as Third Engineer of the M.V. Teeswood at the time of winning his Royal Humane Society Medal, in bronze, on 29 July 1956. On that date, when the Teeswood capsized in a Force 10 gale some three miles off Dungeness, he held the ship’s Master up in the water for over an hour, prior to the timely arrival of the Dungeness lifeboat. Kennedy finally came ashore in late 1967; sold with copied service record and further information.
