Rab Nawaz, who in respect of the Indian Army held the short-lived rank of Warrant Officer at the time of his part in the North-West Frontier operations in the late 1930s, was mentioned in despatches for his services as Subadar Major in Italy (London Gazette 19 July 1945 refers), and, as verified by regimental records, was also awarded the 2nd Class of the Order of British India.
