Douglas James Orr Taylor, who was born in November 1859, was originally commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 25th Regiment in May 1878, and quickly witnessed active service with the 1st Battalion in the Second Afghan War, when he served in the first campaign in the Peshawar Valley Field Force under General Maude, and in the second campaign in the Khyber Line Force under General Bright (Medal).

Having then transferred to the Bombay Staff Corps in May 1880, and been advanced to Captain in May 1889, he was appointed a Wing Officer in the 6th Punjab Rifles in April 1890, and was present in the Samana operations in the following year, when he served in the 2nd Miranzai Expedition (Medal & clasp).

Appointed a Wing Commander in the 6th Punjabs in June 1892, and shortly thereafter Adjutant, Taylor was next present in the Waziristan operations of 1894-95 (clasp). He served latterly in the 33rd Bengal Infantry at Ferozepore and was placed on the Retired List as a Major in 1905; sold with further details.
