Medals Related to Navigation, Netherlands, Tercentenary of the Birth of Michael de Ruyter, 1907, a bronze medal by J.J. van Goor for Begeer, on behalf of the Hollandsch-Belgische Vereeniging der Vrienden van de Medaille, facing bust in collar, reverse naval engagement, 66mm (cf. Begeer 724; BDM VI, 199); together with Belgium, Dinant, c.1925, an Art Deco bronze medal by P. de Soete for Fisch, female figure of Justice standing in front of gravestones, reverse hand raised in defiance, five bells in background, 70mm [2]. About extremely fine, first nicely patinated (£30-50)

The second medal refers to the defeat of the Prussian Guard cavalry at Dinant by Général d’Esperey’s French 5th Army, 12-15 Aug. 1914
