Estimate: £150–£250

Straits Settlements, Victoria, Quarter-Cent, 1890, edge grained, struck en médaille, 2.31gm (Prid –; cf. KM. 14). Almost extremely fine with traces of original colour, extremely rare as a non-Proof coin of this date (£150-250)

Prior to the discovery of this coin, all Straits quarter-cents of 1890 were thought to be proofs; although the edge of this coin is sharp, the surfaces do not reflect a proof striking and it would certainly appear to have seen some circulation
