Estimate: £30–£50

Galba (AD 68-69), As, 68, Tarraco, bust right, reverse arch surmounted by two equestrian statues, three captives being led to the arch at left, 9.66gm (cf. RIC 81; cf. Sear 2136). Only mediocre, but very rare (£30-50)

The three captives are thought to represent Nero’s rapacious procurators in Spain who, having denounced Galba, later paid the price with their lives
