Served with the 3rd Battalion and was killed in action in the attack on Twin Peaks Hill on 24 January 1900. Boer artillery on this hill was causing serious casualties amongst British troops on Spion Kop. The K.R.R.C. attacked with determination and soon dislodged the Boers, but their success was short lived when General Buller ordered their retirement from Twin Peaks back to Camp.
