Private H. W. Hobbs served with the 1st Battalion on the Nile Expedition. This battalion furnished 26 men for the Mounted Infantry Section of the Camel Corps of whom 13 were present at Abu Klea. Private Hobbs was wounded in the action and subsequently died from his wounds. He is buried at El Howieyat Wells.
