Henry Walker was born in Hackney, Middlesex; lived in Dalston and enlisted at St. Paul’s, London. Serving with the 12th Battalion Royal Fusiliers, he was awarded the M.M. for bravery in the field. The award of the M.M. to Private Henry Walker is recorded in the battalion war diary of 23 September 1916. He was reported ‘missing’ sometime during 31 July-3 August 1917, this later amended to ‘killed in action’ on 31 July 1917, during the Third Battle of Ypres when the battalion went into action between Zillebeke and Hill 60. He was buried in the Tyne Cot Cemetery. His medals were sent to ‘J. Walker, Esq., 69 Lenthall Road, Dalston, N.E.8’ With copied research.
