Wilfred Albert Coombe was born on 28 July 1918 and enlisted on 3 May 1937, his home address given as Torquay, Devon. Serving as a Driver in the 18th Division H.Q. R.A.S.C., he was captured at Singapore on 15 February 1942 and held for the remainder of the war as a prisoner-of-war of the Japanese, held at Changi. Liberated on 2 September 1945.
