William Cummins was born in Stalbridge, Dorset on 22 August 1874. A Labourer by occupation, he enlisted in the Royal Navy as a Stoker 2nd Class on 6 December 1895. He attained the rank of Stoker Petty Officer in 1907. Served on Odin, December 1909-February 1912. During the Great War he served on the cruiser Liverpool, March 1913-February 1915 and then on the battleship Barham, August 1915-May 1919 - on which he saw action during the battle of Jutland. Demobilised in May 1919. With copied service paper and other research. Entitled to the 1914-15 Star trio.
