British War and Victory Medals (2. Lieut. B. Fisher. R.A.F.) together with Air Ministry forwarding letter for medals named ‘2/Lt. B. Fisher (Deceased)’, extremely fine £200-300

2nd Lieutenant Bertram Fisher was killed in action flying Sopwith Camel No. B2490 over Fere, France, on 22 July 1918. His formation of Camels of No. 54 Squadron was escorting a flight of bombers when they were attacked by two formations of about 20 and 16 enemy aircraft. In the course of the aerial combat that followed, Captain F. M. Kitto, M.C., reported seeing one of the enemy aircraft fall in flames. One of 54 Squadron’s aircraft failed to return. 2nd Lieutenant Fisher was reported missing, last seen over Fere.

2nd Lieutenant Bertram Fisher is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France (Flying Services).
