France, Medaille Militaire London Gazette 15 December 1919.

Charles Towers, of South Harrow, employed as a Clerk in the Civil Service, attested for the H.A.C. on 6 December 1915. He served at Home, 6 December 1915 and 29 December 1916-19 March 1917. Posted to France on 20 March 1917. Wounded in action on 15 May 1917 (Arras Offensive) - suffering wounds to the thigh, back and ankle (elsewhere his wounds are listed as chest, thigh and right leg). Discharged on 25 November 1917, receiving the King’s Certificate; after which he returned to his old job at the War Office, Contracts Department, Imperial House, Westminster. For his services in the war he was awarded the French Medaille Militaire - one of only three to the H.A.C. for the Great War. With copied service papers and m.i.c. (confirms pair).
