Richard Scurr was the son of Mrs Jane Ann Scurr, of 94 North Side, Workington, Cumberland. Serving with the Border Regiment he entered the Balkan theatre of war on 20 July 1915. Later, serving on the Western Front with the 2nd Battalion, he was killed in action on 19 May 1917. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial.
