John Curtis was born in Swannington, Leicestershire, lived in Ravenstone and enlisted at Coalville. Serving in the 1st Battalion Leicestershire Regiment, he died of wounds on 18 September 1918. His name is commemorated on the Vis-en-Artois Memorial.
