John William Chadwick was born and lived in Warrington and enlisted at Preston. Serving with the 1st Battalion East Lancashire Regiment, he was killed in action 1 July 1916 - the first day of the battle of the Somme. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.

R (Robert) Chadwick is believed to be John William Chadwick’s brother. With copied research.
