Appio Kudana was one of 18 men of the Gold Coast Constabulary to be awarded the Ashanti Star, and afterwards qualified for the Ashanti Medal 1900, this latter in respect of his services in the West African Frontier Force and as servant to Assistant Inspector C. H. Armitage, who was wounded and awarded the D.S.O.; sold with some recent letters concerning the Northern Territories Constabulary (created in 1907).
