The Most Honourable Order of The Bath, C.B. (Military) Companion’s Chapel Stall Plate, gilded brass with engraved and painted badge of a companion, inscribed ‘Thomas Lowry Esquire, Major Commanding the 2nd Battalion of the 7th Regiment of Native Infantry in the Service of the East India Company on the Bengal Establishment, Companion of the Most Honourable Military Order of the Bath. Nominated 8th December 1815’, 190 x 115mm, the reverse impressed with maker’s name, very fine £300-400

Thomas Lowry was born in County Down, Ireland, in 1780. He joined the Bengal Army in 1796 and served with the 7th Native Infantry at the reduction of Kalinjar, 1812, the Nepal War of 1814-15, and the Third Mahratta War of 1817-19. He died at Berhampore, Bengal, on 2 December 1819.
