31st (Huntingdonshire) Regiment Officer’s 1855 Pattern Shako a very fine and scarce example, the body of black beaver with patent leather flush top bracing band front and rear peaks, the frontal plate being a crowned eight pointed gilt star overlaid with a pierced Garter Proper enclosing ‘31’ upon a black leather background, correct pattern cut ball gilt plume holder and white over red ball tuft, complete with buff leather lining and silk attachment (stitching faults) and leather chin strap (part fractured), there is evidence that this is the second plate used on this shako, otherwise in extremely fine condition £500-700
