Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (3734 Drumr. William Guerry, 38th Foot) contact marks, very fine £80-100

William Guerry was born in Mitchelstown, Co. Cork, He attested for the 11th Regiment at Mitchelstown on 29 November 1852, aged 17 years, 6 months and transferred to the 38th Regiment in July 1854, being appointed a Drummer in February 1855. Awarded the L.S. & G.C. Medal and a gratuity of £5 in February 1872. Served in the Crimea for 1 year 5 months and in India for 7 years 6 months. Discharged at Dover on 19 September 1872. In addition to his Long Service Medal he was awarded the British Crimea Medal with clasp for Sebastopol; the Turkish Crimea Medal and the Indian Mutiny Medal with clasp for Lucknow. With copied service papers.
