India General Service 1895-1902, 2 clasps, Punjab Frontier 1897-98, Tirah 1897-98 (Condtr. E. E. Hutchins, Comst. Tranpt. Deptt.) good very fine £120-160

Ethelred Elder Hutchins is thought to have been born in India in 1859. He enlisted into the R.F.A. in 1877 and transferred to the Commissariat and Transport Corps. He saw service in Afghanistan (medal) and Burma (medal with clasp). Promoted to Conductor in 1887. Served in the Punjab and Tirah campaign (medal with two clasps). In 1900 promoted to Deputy Assistant Commissary and advanced to Assistant Commisary in 1901 and Deputy Commissary (Honary Captain) in 1902. Retiring in 1909, he re-engaged for the Great War serving as Commissary (Honorary Captain). With copied service papers.
