Alexander Smith was appointed Lieutenant in the 91st Foot on 30 August 1810, and served with the regiment during its second visit to the Peninsula. He was present at Waterloo in Captain A. J. Callender’s Company No. 4, and transferred as Lieutenant on half-pay to the 42nd Highlanders on 30 September 1819.
