Waterloo 1815 (George Black, 1st Batt. 79th Reg. Foot) fitted with replacement steel clip and bar suspension, some edge bruising and overall wear, otherwise nearly very fine £2800-3200

George Black was born at Wigton, Galloway, and enlisted at Ayr on 1 October 1804, at the ripe old age of 31. He ‘served at Copenhagen in 1807, in Sweden in 1808, Portugal & Spain in 1808, Walcheren in 1809, Peninsula & South of France in 1810, 1811, 1812, 1813 & 1814, Flanders & France in 1815, 1816, 1817 & 1818, and was wounded in the head at Walcheren and slightly in the head at Waterloo’. George Black was discharged on 24 February 1819, upon a reduction in the establishment, having served 16 years 147 days, including 2 years for Waterloo. Sold with copied discharge papers.
