Waterloo 1815 (Captain C. Wilson, 3rd Batt. 14th Reg. Foot.) fitted with small replacement silver ring and steel ring suspension, edge bruise, otherwise very fine £4000-5000

Lieutenant Christian Wilson, in a Memorial to the Duke of York, seeking promotion to Captain, written in October 1814, states that he ‘has served Ten Years as Lieutenant, four of which was in the West Indies in the 99th Regiment, but having suffered severely by ill health, Memorialist returned to Europe and exchanged into the 48th Regiment, with which Corps Memorialist went out to Portugal in April 1809 and was present with his Regiment at every general Action in which it was engaged, viz; Oporto, Talavera, Busaco, Albuera, Salamanca, Vitoria, Pamplona, heights of Irun, Zara, crossing of Nivelle, Orthes, and Toulouse; as also at the Sieges of Ciudad Rodrigo and Badajoz; at the latter Memorialist received a severe wound in the Arm whilst leading on the Grenadiers formed into a Flank Battalion of the Fourth Division, of which Battalion, Memorialist was the Senior Lieutenant, and the senior Officer who survived the Assault; That Memorialist was never one day absent from his duty during the whole of the Peninsular War, except while recovering from his Wound.’

Wilson was successful in obtaining a Company as a Captain in the 14th Foot on 4 November 1814, and fought with the regiment at the battle of Waterloo. Wilson exchanged as Captain to the 38th Foot in 1822 and left the army before 1829. He did not live to claim the Peninsula War medal.
