Archibald McCallum was born in Inverary, Scotland, on 23 April 1881. A Carpenter by occupation, he enlisted into the 56th (Calgary) Battalion in May 1915, but had transferred to the 49th Battalion by the time he was killed in action on 27 June 1916. He was buried in the Bedford House Cemetery, near Ieper, Belgium; sold with copied service and other papers.
