Arthur Richard Bugby was born in Old, Northamptonshire, on 27 May 1895. A Farmer by occupation, he enlisted into the 203rd Battalion at Winnipeg in March 1916 but was serving with the 44th Battalion when he died of wounds on 13 August 1918. The official casualty report states:

‘While taking part with his Battalion in an attack at Fouquescourt, he was severely wounded by a bullet in the spine. He was evacuated to No. 12 General Hospital, Rouen, where he succumbed to his wounds’.

Bugby was buried in the St. Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen. He was the son of Thomas and Louisa Bugby, of Old, Northamptonshire; sold with a photograph of the recipient and copied service papers.
