M.M. London Gazette 24 January 1919. The original recommendation states:

‘Under intense shell fire and when the platoon was temporarily held up, he dressed six comrades and carried them to safety.’

Alfred Henderson was born in Hamilton, Scotland, on 24 October 1896. Living in St. John’s, New Brunswick and a Plumber by occupation, he enlisted into the 26th (New Brunswick) Battalion in November 1914. Embarked for England in the S.S.
Caledonia, he was sent out to France in September 1915, where he was wounded on 13 October 1915 at ‘the Crater Fight’ on the Ypres Salient - taking a gunshot wound to the right leg. He was again wounded on 16 August 1918 at the Battle of Amiens, suffering a bullet wound to the right arm. For his bravery in action he was awarded the M.M. - having been originally recommended for a D.C.M. Henderson was discharged in March 1919 and died in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in May 1963; sold with copied service papers and other research.
