Harry Foster was born in Spencerville, Ontario, on 30 November 1887. A Locomotive Engineer by occupation, he enlisted in the 10th Battalion (Canadians) Battalion at Valcartier in September 1914. Embarked for France, he was twice wounded in action - on 14 October 1915, with a ‘shrapnel wound to right leg’, and on 11 November 1915, when ‘shell shocked’. Nonetheless, he returned to duty, and was killed in action on 9 April 1917 at the battle of Vimy Ridge. Buried in the Nine Elms Military Cemetery, Thelus. he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Foster, of 833 Athabasca Street East, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; sold with copied service and other papers.
