David Dixon Robertson was born in Newera, Elyia, Ceylon, on 27 February 1887. A Telephone Engineer by occupation, he attested for the Canadian Engineers at Calgary in January 1916. Serving with the 11th Company 3rd Divisional Engineers, Robertson arrived in England in March 1916 and was embarked for France that June, attached to the Canadian Corps No. 2 Signal Company. In May 1917, he was transferred to the Canadian Corps H.Q. Signal Company, 3rd Army Troops, and he was advanced to Lance-Corporal in March 1918. Awarded the M.M. - possibly for services rendered during the Second Battle of Arras on 2-3 September 1918 - he was demobilised at Calgary in May 1919.

On returning to civilian life he was employed by the Alberta Government Telephone Company and lived at South Cooking Lake, Alberta. He later moved to Victoria, B.C., where he was employed by the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires. He retired from the Corps in 1973 - aged 86 years! - and died in Victoria, B.C., in August 1975; sold with copied service papers.
