George Herbert Ford was born in Ventnor, Isle of Wight, on 14 January 1891. Enlisting in the Canadian Mounted Rifles in February 1915, he was actually serving with the Canadian Light Horse when was gassed on 10 November 1918, the last full day of hostilities. He died on 18 November 1918 and was buried in the Etaples Military Cemetery; sold with copied service papers - a replacement Memorial Cross was issued to his next of kin in September 1922.
