George William Taylor was born in Heanor, Derbyshire. A Miner by occupation and a member of the 3rd Battalion Sherwood Foresters, he attested for full-time service on 23 November 1909. Serving with the 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters, he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 4 November 1914. He was discharged to the Army Reserve on 26 December 1916. Awarded the Silver War Badge (not with lot). With copied service papers, m.i.c. and roll extract.
