Albert Edward Nicholls enlisted on 6 July 1904. Serving with the 1st Battalion Shropshire Light Infantry, he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 20 September 1914. Clasp to Star confirmed. He was discharged from the Depot Battalion on 23 June 1916 due to sickness and awarded the Silver War Badge.
