A. E. Oliver enlisted on 31 August 1914. As a Lance-Corporal in the 1st Battalion Queen’s Regiment, he entered France on 1 November 1914. He was discharged from the Depot Battalion on 20 June 1916, aged 40 years, 2 months and was awarded the Silver War Badge.
