Arthur Forbes was born in the Parish of Watten, near Wick, Caithness. A Farm Servant by occupation, he attested for the Gordon Highlanders at Aberdeen on 1 June 1897, aged 19 years, 4 months. With the 2nd Battalion he served in the East Indies, September 1898-September 1899; South Africa, September 1899-December 1901, and East Indies, January 1902-March 1905. Transferred to the Army Reserve in March 1905, he was discharged on 31 May 1909.

With copied service papers and roll extracts - also entitled to the King’s medal with two clasps.
