George Grunsell was born in Netley, Southampton. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for the Hampshire Regiment at Winchester 29 December 1885, aged 20 years, 1 month. With them he served in India, September 1886-November 1888; Burma, November 1888-January 1891; East India, January 1891-January 1903; Aden, January 1903-January(?) 1904. Grunsell was discharged at his own request at Portsmouth on 15 May 1905. With copied service and discharge papers.
