Distinguished Service Medal, G.V.R. (D.A. 254 W. L. Seaton, 2nd Hd., R.N.R., H.M. Tr. Braes O’Mar, Minesweeping 1916-7), minor official correction to ‘Tr.’, very fine £350-400

D.S.M. London Gazette 29 June 1917:

‘For services in minesweeping operations in the period 1 July 1916 to 31 March 1917’.



William Liddle Seaton was born in Newhaven, Midlothian, in July 1894, and enrolled in the Royal Naval Reserve as a 2nd Hand at Granton in April 1913. Called up in August 1914, he appears to have served in minesweeping trawlers for the duration of the War,and was awarded his D.S.M. in respect of similar duties
Braes O’Mar in 1916-17. Seaton was demobilised at Milford Haven in October 1919; sold with copied service record.
