Medwin Seymour Varden was born in June 1897 and entered the Royal Naval Air Service as a Probationary Flight Officer in December 1916. Having then qualified as a pilot at Eastchurch and Killingholme, he was posted as a Flight Sub. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Chatham War Memorial.
