Joe Vinerd was born in Tupton, near Chesterfield, Derbyshire and attested for the Derbyshire Regiment at Chesterfield on 13 March 1893, aged 19 years, 6 months. He was discharged having completed his first period of service on 12 March 1905. His intended place of residence was 60 Oxford Street, off Sheffield Road, Barnsley.

With original Parchment Certificate of Discharge and copied roll extracts.
