M.C. London Gazette 4 October 1919. ‘On 3rd October 1918, at Raincourt and Montbrehain he led his platoon with great skill and dash, and continued to do so until severely wounded. He led his platoon through a heavy enemy barrage with total disregard for danger and absolute coolness and devotion to duty.’

2nd Lieutenant Thomas Frederick Mitchell, 5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters was severely wounded in the action at Raincourt and Montbrehain on 3 October 1918. He died of his wounds the next day. He was buried in the Tincourt New British Cemetery. With copied research.
