Archie Day was born in and enlisted at Manchester. Serving in the 18th (Service) Battalion Manchester Regiment, he was killed in action, France, on 30 July 1916, aged 25 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. He was the son of Mrs Maria Day, of 144 Harcourt Street, Ardwick, Manchester. With original slips to accompany the medals and copied casualty details.
