Alfred Andrew Walker was born in Camberwell, Surrey and enlisted at London. He entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 9 February 1915. Serving with the 2nd Battalion East Surrey Regiment, he was killed in action during the 2nd Battle of Ypres, 25 April 1915. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.
