Alfred Robert Leadbetter was born in Pendleton, Lancashire, lived in Salford and enlisted at Manchester. Serving with the 1st Battalion Rifle Brigade, he was killed in action, France/Flanders on 13 May 1915. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. He was the son of Sarah Ellen Leadbetter, of 23 Robinson Street, Regent Road, Salford.
