Estimate: £250–£300

A rare Great War campaign group of three awarded to Acting 2nd Class Sick Berth Steward W. Spencer, Royal Naval Auxiliary Sick Berth Reserve, one of just 85 such recipients of the 1914 Star
1914 Star (M. 9530 W. Spencer, Sen. R.A., R.N.A.S.B.R.); British War and Victory Medals (M. 9530 W. Spencer, Act. 2 S.B.S., R.N.), good very fine or better (3) £250-300

Wilton Spencer was born in Ramsbottom, Lancashire, in March 1892, and joined the Royal Naval Auxiliary Sick Berth Reserve as a Senior Reserve Attendant in August 1914, in which capacity he most likely served at the R.N. Hospital, Dunkirk. Returning to the U.K. with an appointment in Pembroke III at the end of 1914, he removed to the airship station at Kingsnorth in April 1915, and remained similarly employed until the War’s end, latterly in the acting rank of 2nd Class Sick Berth Steward. He was demobilised in June 1919; sold with copied research.
