New Zealand 1845-66, reverse dated 1863 to 1866 (432 Sergt. John Beamish, 50th Qn’s. Own Rgt.); Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small reverse letters (432 Cr. Sergt. J. Beamish, 50th Foot) minor contact marks and edge bruising, very fine and better (2) £500-600

John Beamish was born in Bulkington, Warwickshire. He attested for the 50th Regiment at Wolverhampton on 11 January 1859, aged 18 years. He served overseas in Ceylon for nearly three years and in Australia and New Zealand for over five years. Attaining the rank of Sergeant Instructor of Musketry in January 1878, he was discharged at Edinburgh on 29 December 1879.
