Royal Navy L.S. & G.C. (4) G.V.R., 2nd issue, fixed suspension (M.5024 J. A. Bending, E.R.A.1, H.M.S. Pembroke; 271295 A. V. Lander, E.R.A.1, H.M.S. Columbine; M.4156 W. Taylor, E.R.A.1, H.M.S. Afrikander; M.5605 H. T. Hyslop, E.R.A.1, H.M.S. Berwick) contact marks, nearly very fine and better (4) £150-200

John Alfred Bending was born in Chatham on 3 1October 1887 and entered the Royal Navy in August 1912. Served on the gunboat Dwarf, June 1914-August 1916, lated based at Pemboke and Vivid. Awarded the L.S. & G.C. in 1927.

Albert Victor Lander was born in Devonport on 29 May 1888 and entered the Royal Navy in January 1904. Served on the armoured cruiser
Shannon, Ocober 1911-April 1917 and the destroyer Porcupine, May 1917-March 1919. Awarded the L.S. & G.C. in 1927.

William Taylor was born in Newcastle on 16 April 1890 and entered the Royal Navy in February 1912. Survived the sinking of the old battleship
Formidable, 1 January 1915. Later served on the destroyer Zephyr, April 1915-August 1916 and October 1916-July 1917 and the minesweeper Heythrop, July 1917-March 1919. Was mentioned in despatches. Loaned to the South African Navy, 1921-28.

Hugh Thomson Hyslop was born in Glasgow on 11 March 1897 and entered the Royal Navy in January 1913. Served on
Vivid and Indus prior to serving on the battlecruiser New Zealand, February 1917-February 1919.
