Giles Sheppard was born in Blandford, Dorset on 26 July 1842. Entered the Royal Navy in May 1868 as an Acting Engine Room Artificer. Served on Victor Emmanuel, November 1873-May 1874. Attained the rank of C.E.R.A. in July 1877 when on Jumna. Invalided from Hotspur on 3 September 1886. With copied service papers.
