Four: Warrant Engineer A. Light, Royal Navy

Arthur Light was born in West Bromwich, Staffordshire on 3 May 1875. A Fitter by occupation, he entered the Royal Navy as an Acting Engine Room Artificer 4th Class on 2 February 1900 and was confirmed in his rank in December 1901. He was advanced to E.R.A. 3rd Class in June 1903 on Doris and E.R.A. 2nd Class when at Vivid II. He served on the destroyer depot ship Blake, February 1911-February 1915, being advanced to C.E.R.A. 2nd Class in April 1912 and latterly served on the destroyer Goldfinch. On 1 January 1915 he was promoted to Artificer Engineer and served on the light cruiser Constance, May 1915-January 1918, seeing action at the battle of Jutland. He retired as a Warrant Engineer on 18 August 1920.
